If there is one thing that I miss the most during this pandemic, it’s the joy of planning and setting foot to a location you have always wanted to explore. The last place I visited was Cebu during this year’s Sinulog. It was an overnight trip with my siblings to experience one of the biggest festivals in our country. Of course, in the process of building the itinerary, trying out the food is a must.
Besides the usual lechon and danggit, the Queen City of the South is home to a number of iconic home grown restaurants. Of course, no trip is complete without trying the highly recommended restaurants in the area.
Abaca Baking Company
After the early morning flight and checking in the hostel, my sister lead us here for some coffee and pastries. During her previous trip she chanced upon this coffee shop and fell in love with their pastries. Being a sucker for baked goods, this is the place I look forward to the most for this trip. And they really live up to expectations.
We bought savory pies, stuffed bread and lamingtons for our breakfast. Each of them left a very satisfied smile in our faces.
Later that day, we dropped by another branch before closing time to buy more goodies at a discounted price.

Ding Qua Qua
For lunch, we decided to take on the unlimited dim sum offering from Ding Qua Qua. As one of the brands of the Harbour City Dimsum House Co, they specializes in a wide selection of dim sum dishes as well as their original steamed fried rice. What draws people in this particular restaurant is the unlimited buffet at PHP 348. (Due to the current situation, they reopened the buffet with PHP 299). They also offer some items a la carte.

La Vie Parisienne
As the day came closer to dusk, we decided to go fancy and visit La Vie Parisienne for more pastries, wine and pizza. The sweets came with a heftier price tag. The pizzas are decent but not really that mind-blowing. You are basically paying more for the ambiance. Oh, they also have good gelato!
If you are in the mood for some wine or feel a bit fancy, you could include this in your itinerary.

Zubuchon
We originally planned to dine in Sunburst Chicken, however, due to the festivities, the nearest outlets was booked. The only place nearby is Zubuchon which already has restaurants in Metro Manila.
We each a basic plated set of rice, monggo and of course, lechon.

Casa Verde
Before we boarded our flight, we had ribs from Casa Verde. Like Zubuchon, Casa Verde already opened outlets here in Metro Manila (in SM Megamall and UP Town Center) but it was highly recommended by my sister so we gave it a go.
The meat was tender and flavorful and the serving, very generous. It was the perfect last meal for that Cebu trip.

Cebu has been on my must-visit list for a long time! Hopefully when everything is okay again, I’ll finally be able to check it off the list.

With what is going on in our country, I can’t help but to feel cynical that things will be better soon. But, likewise, I still have a bit of hope. I want to go back there as well

Oh my…seeing the pictures made me miss the place! I managd to visit Zubuchon, Casa Verde, and La Vie Parisienne during my last trip there — but Dimsum Break is the one I definitely miss the most!

I was eye-ing two more fastfood/restaurants during that trip – Sunburst and Orange Brutus. But 48 hours is not enough to go food tripping. XD
